The Everyday Sight-Loss Impact Check uses ten short questions and provides a suggested next step. Your result and recommended next step are sent by email only. It is not a diagnosis or eligibility test.

Everyday signs that support may help
Sight loss can change ordinary routines in ways other people do not always see.
Pouring, chopping, measuring or using appliances now takes more concentration.
Medication, clothing, grooming and identifying products have become harder to manage.
Letters, labels, screens, controls and forms are difficult to read or access.
Glare, steps, clutter and low contrast make moving around less predictable.
Symbol, guide, long and support canes have different purposes, but product information is often unclear.
Everyone has suggestions, yet there is no agreed plan based on your priorities.

from one written plan instead of scattered advice.
Choose the right level of support
Begin with the impact check to understand what kind of support may be most useful. One focused question may suit a clearly defined issue, while several connected difficulties may benefit from a fuller assessment. Membership provides ongoing access when you want continued guidance.
Ten short questions help identify whether you may benefit from a practical resource, one focused answer or a fuller assessment.
Ask one defined VRS question each month and use a growing library of practical resources, information and future training opportunities.

Quoted to scope
Request a quoteA different approach
Sight loss affects people differently. Buying random equipment or collecting generic tips can create more confusion.
We begin with what you used to do, what is difficult now, what matters most and what adjustments are already in place. That gives the work a real-life starting point.
For several related difficulties
A structured Senior Vision Rehabilitation Specialist assessment for UK-based adults whose sight loss is affecting several related parts of everyday life. Assessments are delivered in English by telephone or video call. Vision rehabilitation is non-medical support; it does not diagnose eye conditions or replace medical advice.
£350
Complete a short questionnaire, attend a 60 to 75 minute telephone or video assessment and receive detailed written recommendations for up to three agreed priority areas.
What happens
Explore daily living, personal care, communication, technology, lighting, home safety, social life, confidence and support.
Focus on the challenges that matter most to you rather than treating everything as equally urgent.
Consider techniques, equipment, technology, environmental changes, family guidance, recommended next steps and relevant organisations that may offer further support.
Leave with clear recommendations, boundaries and next steps you can refer back to.
A person needs help to prepare food, identify ingredients and appliance controls, and pour hot drinks more safely. These are connected daily-living priorities that can reasonably be explored together during one remote assessment.
Service: £350, with detailed recommendations for up to three agreed priority areas.
Sight loss is affecting cooking, medication, personal care, moving around, falls risk and the support provided by other people. The issues interact and may require more professional time, additional signposting or agreed in-person input.
Service: individually quoted after the scope is understood. “Broader” describes the work required, not the person.
Experience in practice
These anonymised examples come from our founder’s professional vision-rehabilitation practice. They show the thinking and outcomes behind the work without presenting invented testimonials.
A person struggling with kitchen tasks explored sequencing, contrast and safer techniques alongside equipment such as a talking microwave and liquid-level indicator.
Result: recommendations connected directly to the person’s routine, not a generic equipment list.
NFC labels used with an iPhone, clearer storage and task-specific methods helped a person identify jars and manage cooking more confidently.
Result: technology and practical technique worked together around the person’s existing skills.
The person’s intended use was clarified before comparing a symbol/simple cane, guide cane, long cane and support cane or white walking stick.
Result: clearer cane identification and honest signposting towards any required outdoor-mobility assessment or training.

See what to expect
For example: “I keep mixing up similar food tins and jars. What practical changes could help me identify them independently?” The response would explain suitable techniques, accessible labelling options, safety limits and the next step.
Questions before you enquire
The current service is for UK-based adults and is delivered in English by telephone or video call. Video is better when the VRS needs to understand your environment, see equipment or observe how a task is approached. We will confirm the suitable format before payment.
You can enquire directly. We will ask for relevant information, decide whether the assessment is suitable and explain any limitations before you proceed.
No. Equipment may help, but techniques, organisation, lighting, contrast, technology, family support, recommended next steps and signposting to relevant services or organisations can be just as important. Signposting does not mean that Sensory Visionaries will make a referral on your behalf.
The core service is an assessment and written recommendations. Any additional support is discussed separately and only where appropriate.
No. We can explain the four main cane types and help identify the likely purpose of a cane, but we do not provide outdoor-mobility, route-specific or hands-on long-cane training. Where this is needed, we recommend an appropriate local qualified professional.
